Galifrey Alpaca Fleece for Sale
We shear once a year, usually in October-November, and our shearer shears the alpacas on a table. This method secures the alpaca effectively so they can not hurt themselves through wild struggling, and allows all of the fleece to be shorn in less than 10 minutes. Husbandry jobs (toenails, teeth, eartags, vaccinations etc) are also undertaken and take less than 5 minutes, which means that the alpaca is off the table and out of the shed very quickly. They look quite different before and after shearing, and it can take a day or so to identify separately all the white ones! At Galifrey, we have a range of raw fleece for sale-many different colours, and varying degrees of fineness, but most of herd is less than 23 microns and a comfort factor 95% and over. Our fleece catalogue is sorted by colour, and has information about each animal and a photo to assist in selection. Our fleece has been skirted to exclude most leg and belly fleece, and the neck fleece (bagged separately) has also been skirted to remove most guard hair. Prices are for the entire weight of the fleece listed, but we also sell smaller quantities-please phone to discuss. All fleece information is at December 2006. Prices listed include gst, but do not include a postage / handling fee of $20 per order (Australia-wide). Enquiries and inspections welcome by appointment - contact us ► down load fleece catalogue
